Whether your business sells B2C or B2B products and services, it needs a way to
manage the journey from prospect to paying customer. A well-structured sales
funnel helps you do that, streamlining the process and keeping your team on track
with targeted messaging and marketing, eliminating repetitive tasks and boosting
conversion rates.
A sales funnel starts with an awareness stage that draws potential customers into
your company. For a mountain bike shop that targets outdoorsy Facebook users, this
may include Facebook ads and a landing page that highlights their new line of
carbon frames. A well-structured funnel will also identify and nurture leads that are
most likely to convert. For example, a lead who is interested in buying a mountain
bike will receive a follow-up email with detailed product information and special
offers. This will help them narrow their options and make a purchase decision.
At the interest stage, the prospect is ready to buy but still needs further information
from your company about its products and pricing. You can address their needs with
additional content, such as blog posts, videos, and case studies, that showcase the
benefits of your solutions. You might even ask them to schedule a phone call or
meet with a rep to get their questions answered and finalize the details of the sale.
Once the prospect is ready to take action, it’s time to close the deal. During this
stage, you’ll use strategies like discounts, personalized emails and cart
abandonment automated messaging to convince them to purchase your solution
and become a loyal customer. A loyalty program is a great tool for businesses that
want to drive repeat purchases and increase average order value.
